On a day when Roger Stone was convicted on all charges for having helped Donald Trump criminally conspire with Russia to rig the 2016 election, we’re getting a sharper sense of just how much legal trouble Rudy Giuliani is in for having helped Donald Trump try to criminally conspire with Ukraine to rig the 2020 election.

The Feds at the SDNY are targeting Rudy Giuliani for crimes that start with his role in Donald Trump’s Ukraine extortion scandal, but expand to the illegal foreign money that Rudy was stuffing into his own pockets. Bloomberg says Rudy is being investigated for lobbying and campaign finance violations, similar to the charges recently brought against his associates Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman. The Wall Street Journal says Rudy is also being investigated for profiteering from a Ukrainian gas deal that Parnas and Fruman were corruptly pursuing.

These are the kinds of crimes which, if proven, send you to prison for a very long time. Considering all the noise that Lev Parnas and his new attorney have made this past week about wanting to cooperate with the House impeachment inquiry, you have to wonder if Parnas might already be cooperating with the SDNY.

In any case, there has to be a specific reason the Feds are now publicly letting Rudy Giuliani know that they’ve advanced and expanded their investigation into him. It could be that they’re trying to let him know how screwed he is, and they’re giving him one final chance to cut a plea deal before he’s indicted and arrested. Only the SDNY knows specifically when Rudy will be arrested. But based on the details that are now surfacing, it sure sounds like that arrest is coming soon.
