Former Republican Congressman to endorse Joe Biden tomorrow [UPDATED]

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. Update, 10:30pm: John Kasich has now clarified that he’s referring to a former Republican Congressman, not one who’s still in Congress. We still don’t know the person’s identity. Original story follows below.

John Kasich revealed on CNN this evening that a prominent Republican member of Congress is going to endorse Joe Biden tomorrow. No hints were given as to this person’s identity, and there are different ways to interpret the word “prominent.” For that matter, while “member of Congress” usually refers to the House in this context, it can also potentially refer to the Senate.

This revelation has set the internet ablaze with speculation. A lot of people are pointing to far-right Congressman Justin Amash, who voted to impeach Donald Trump. But Amash quit the Republican Party last year, so he’s not technically a Republican member of Congress anymore [Update, 9:54pm: Amash says it’s not him]. Some people are suggesting it could be Adam Kinzinger, Francis Rooney, or Will Hurd, who have all been Trump critics; Rooney and Hurd are about to retire. Of course it’s debatable as to whether any of them are “prominent.” Some are asking if it’s Republican Senator Mitt Romney, who voted to convict Trump, and is certainly prominent.

We’ll find out soon enough. Whoever it is, we’ll gladly take all the help we can get in this election, regardless of our opinion of the Republican member of Congress in question. This is going to be an interesting week.
