Pro-Trump election official criminally indicted in election equipment tampering case
Remember all those brazenly fraudulent election “audits” that took place after Donald Trump lost the 2020 election? Those phony audits never had any chance of overturning anything, or changing a single person’s mind about the outcome of the election. But now we are finally seeing some fallout – for the people who perpetrated these audits.
Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters and her Deputy were just criminally indicted on multiple counts, as part of the local District Attorney’s ongoing investigation into election equipment tampering and official misconduct.” Peters was indicted on thirteen counts.
It’s taken longer than it should – as tends to be the case in our system of criminal justice – but the people who fraudulently claimed there was 2020 election fraud are starting to get what’s long been coming to them. The question is how high up the chain these kinds of consequences go, and whether they’ll reach Donald Trump himself.
