Yeah, Donald Trump Jr is going to die in prison
Over the weekend we learned that Donald Trump Jr held a second Trump Tower meeting during the election with representatives of foreign governments who were looking to help him alter the outcome of the election. This time it was with reps from Israel and two Middle Eastern nations. Even as this latest treason meeting unfolds, the increasingly ugly details of Junior’s Russia meeting have already ensured that he’s going to spend the rest of his life in prison.
Donald Trump Jr met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya during the election, in an attempt at getting dirt from her about Hillary Clinton. When the media got wind of this meeting a year later, Junior initially tried to claim the meeting was about adoption, before his own emails made clear that his intent was criminal in nature. His last line of partial defense was the claim that Veselnitskaya wasn’t really representing the Russian government, and therefore he was only conspiring against the United States with a Russian private citizen, and not with the Russian government itself. But that’s since all gone out the window.
Veselnitskaya admitted this in an interview aired by NBC News: “I am a lawyer, and I am an informant. Since 2013, I have been actively communicating with the office of the Russian prosecutor general.” In other words, she’s a Russian government spy. All that’s left to do is to demonstrate that Donald Trump Jr knew this when he met with her, and he’ll end up with a life sentence in prison for treason or its peacetime rough equivalent, Conspiracy against the United States.
What’s notable is that this comes even as Donald Trump’s longtime “attorney” Michael Cohen is trying to decide whether to cut a plea deal in order to avoid spending much of the rest of his life in prison. Now Donald Trump Jr’s only chance of not dying in a cell is if he cuts a plea deal. Many observers don’t think Junior would ever send his father to prison to save himself, but those same observers thought Michael Flynn would never sell out Donald Trump either. We’ll see what he decides.
