Pressure grows on Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment tonight

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s tweets today incited an armed domestic terrorist attack against the U.S. Capitol Building, and he’s since done nothing meaningful to bring the ongoing siege to an end. Trump can no longer be allowed to remain President for the final two weeks.

Accordingly, there is now growing pressure on Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment. Prior to today, there never seemed to be any scenario where he might actually do it. But today has changed a lot of things rather quickly.

It’s not just Democratic leaders who are calling for Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment. Business leaders, including the National Association of Manufacturers, are also calling on Pence to invoke the 25th. This is a bigger deal, because the Republican Party doesn’t want to lose these kinds of votes in the next election.

So now we’ll see if Mike Pence decides that it’s in his own personal career interests to go ahead and invoke the 25th Amendment. He’d need the support of a majority of the cabinet, and it’s unclear what those numbers would look like at this point. But we’re seeing the issue quickly being forced.
