Donald Trump’s latest deranged press conference is already off to disastrous start
Last night Donald Trump let it be known that he would announce a major new “therapeutic” breakthrough coronavirus treatment today. Was he going to rehash his support of the dangerous and ineffective coronavirus treatment hydroxychloroquine? Was he going to unveil the phony coronavirus miracle cure that Ben Carson and the MyPillow guy have reportedly cooked up?
During his press conference this afternoon, Trump announced that convalescent plasma therapy is the big new breakthrough. Wait a minute here. If that sounds like it’s nothing new, that’s because it’s not. It’s been in widespread use for months. Trump is literally just taking something that the medical community is already doing, and announcing it as if it were something new.
This is the height of gaslighting – and the height of desperation. No one outside Donald Trump’s idiot base will fall for this imaginary announcement, and as the polls keep showing us, they’re not nearly a large enough group to get Trump reelected on their own.
Trump isn’t getting anywhere with this nonsense. And his repeated use of the racist phrase “China virus” during these press briefings is only serving to help the voters in the middle understand that he really is as much of a racist as his detractors have been insisting all along.
