Donald Trump just got destroyed at his own press conference
With everything falling apart for him in real time, Donald Trump decided to hold a press conference today and run his mouth some more. This seemed like a terrible idea, considering that running his mouth to Bob Woodward is why he’s in this mess to begin with. Sure enough, it ended up being a disaster for him.
After Trump finished struggling to read the opening script that his handlers had put in front of him, he made the mistake of opening things up to questions. The very first question, from ABC News correspondent Jon Karl, was “Why did you lie to the American people?”
This set off Trump in a rampage, as he began yelling “It’s a disgrace to ABC television network, it’s a disgrace to your employer.” But Karl fought back, pointing out that “You went out and told the American public that this was just like the flu.” Trump then incoherently retorted, “Did you ever hear the expression five times?”
Trump tried to move on. But the next reporter pointed out that “You said you downplayed it.” Then the next reporter after that pointed out that other world leaders were calmly honest with their people, and asked, “Why did you as President of the United States not level with the American people?” Trump is being destroyed right now, thanks to a White House press corps that’s aggressively doing its job.
