Donald Trump just had a really bad “Presidents Day”
Encyclopedia Britannica says it’s known as Presidents’ Day with a plural possessive apostrophe. The Associated Press Stylebook says no apostrophe at all. Federal government archives reveal that the holiday in question is still technically known as “George Washington’s Birthday” because it was never officially changed. In any case, leave it to Donald Trump to get it wrong.
Donald Trump tweeted “HAPPY PRESIDENT’S DAY!” It’s perhaps fitting that by using an apostrophe and putting it in the wrong place, he’s suggesting that there has only been one President – presumably he’s referring to himself. In any case, Trump’s literacy issues are the least of his problems. Suffice it to say that his tweet didn’t go over well for a number of reasons, as evidenced by the replies:
Back atcha one term fool!

It's been weird not having a president* to celebrate over the last couple of years. #PresidentsDay
But here we are.
