President Obama just dropped the mic

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

After three and a half years of having an incoherent criminal toddler for President of the United States, it was almost jarring to hear a President give a speech tonight that sounded like it was actually coming from a President. But it was the very best kind of jarring when Barack Obama spoke during tonight’s televised virtual commencement ceremony, because it reminded us that it’s still possible for a President to sound respectable.

President Obama’s speech was smart, eloquent, thoughtful, and – we can’t believe we have to say this – featured complete sentences and proper sentence structure. While he didn’t mention Donald Trump, the closest he came to criticizing Trump was when he said this: “Turns out they don’t have all the answers. A lot of them aren’t even asking the right questions.”

But really, this entire event was a well-deserved slap in Trump’s face. It featured segments from LeBron James and Megan Rapinoe, two popular athletes who have been viciously attacked by Trump in the past. And it’s nothing short of remarkable that the current President is such a toxically unpopular criminal, this commencement event had to tap the previous President instead.
