President Joe Biden is just running up the score at this point

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As the debt ceiling talks progressed, it became clearer than ever to the average person who pays no attention to politics that the Republicans were determined to tank the U.S. economy if they didn’t get to gut the social programs they’ve been looking to cut for decades – making clear that they were holding the economy hostage in exchange for being able to hurt the country’s most vulnerable citizens.

Not only did they end up losing badly in the deal that President Biden and House Speaker McCarthy finalized, with just a few crumbs, but the jobs report from May gave every indication that the economy is continuing to grow – far from tanking the way Republicans hoped it would.

In the month of May, President Biden set yet another record of job creation. Not only was the unemployment rate under 4% for 16 months in a row – the first time that’s happened since the 1960s – but 339,000 jobs were added to the economy.

That makes for a total of over 13 million jobs created under this administration, while the package passed in the House and Senate this week has all but guaranteed that this considerable job growth is only going to continue. When Democrats win, they deliver, and we’ve been seeing the results for the last two years. Not only are Democrats good for implementing policies the majority of the country agrees with, they’re also good for the economy. Let’s do all we can to get them elected in 2023 and 2024.
