President Joe Biden comes out swinging

As ThyBlackMan.com implored, another former president has stepped into the chaotic, illegal doings of the Trump administration, President Joe Biden. Biden was joined by others who want to find solutions to Social Security’s current condition and keep it out of the hands of Donald Trump and Elon Musk. The president spoke to the national conference of Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled in Chicago (ACRD). The impact of Elon Musk’s meddling in Social Security has left many Americans wondering what’s happening to their benefits. Joining President Biden was Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI,) and former SSA Administrator Martin O’Malley. O’Malley has been very outspoken about the changes at Social Security and told reporters: “Social Security is a sacred promise between generations. We are deeply grateful to the President for joining us at ACRD to discuss how we can keep that promise for all Americans.”

People who have, over the years, paid into Social Security expect those funds to be returned as promised. The executive director of ACRD, Rachel Buck, laid out what we expect to hear: “As bipartisan leaders have long agreed, Americans who retire after paying into Social Security their whole lives deserve the vital support and caring services they receive.” That “vital support” and “caring services” do not include longer than normal telephone wait times and traveling for miles to find an open Social Security office. Social Security is not a hand-out, and it is not an “entitlement.” It is money that we and our employers put away for our future.

If raising the cap (or taxes) will help to make this agency solvent, then that’s what we need to do. It is completely unfair for people who are currently paying into the system to never see a return of their funds. It’s not just the retirees’ wellbeing at stake; future retirees must have funds allocated for them too. The system isn’t broken; it’s just badly bent. We need to find a way to straighten it out so that it does what President Franklin Roosevelt intended it to do. President Reagan joined with a Democratic speaker of the house to modify the system in 1983 so that it would continue to work. Forty-two years have passed since then, and it’s time to repair it, not allow some unelected immigrant play around with it and possibly finally break it. President Biden had plenty to say about that.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted Biden from his speech: “In fewer than 100 days, this new administration has done so much damage and so much destruction. It’s kind of breathtaking. They’ve taken a hatchet to Social Security.” Preach, President Biden. Trump and his entire administration are the epitome of pure evil. Their press secretary continues to harp on fraud protection, but there’s an ulterior motive to those claims. We will likely find out soon. President Biden gave us one idea that is likely not far from the truth: “They want to wreck it so they can rob it. Why do they want to rob it? In order to give tax cuts to billionaires and big corporations.” Or put it in their own pockets.
