President Biden’s strategy to crack the Homeland Security Inspector General

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The question is being asked on social media, so let’s address it: why hasn’t President Biden just fired the DHS Inspector General? Because that’s not the ideal outcome. The goal is to use the threat of firing and/or criminal penalties to squeeze him into giving up who pushed him into covering things up.

This is why Biden is having his people leak to the media that he’s considering firing the Inspector General. It’s all about leverage. Bend him to your will. The people saying “why is Biden tepidly taking so long to fire him” are framing it incorrectly.

The Inspector General is a medium fish. He can give up bigger fish. Get his cooperation now. Let the DOJ punish him appropriately later, and take his cooperation into consideration at that time. Biden is showing that he understands how this kind of leverage works.
