President Biden sticks it to Donald Trump
Donald Trump made a lot of bluster about having the Jan 6 Committee investigated because they dared to get to the bottom of a domestic terror attack throughout the 2024 election, which led the media to fire up a narrative about how President Biden needed to pardon Liz Cheney among others in order to stop Donald Trump. This is somewhat farcical as it wasn’t too long ago that the media was crying foul over Hunter Biden’s pardon and questioning the president’s privilege in the matter.
There’s also something that anyone panicking and dooming about the committee’s members has forgotten: They’re the good guys in all of this – and giving a pardon, which is typically an indicator of guilt, undercuts that and changes the narrative – letting right wing pundits amplify some nonsense that Congress was trying to frame Donald Trump – which seems to be a regular occurrence these days.
President Biden, however, set the record straight as he awarded both Rep. Bennie Thompson and former Rep. Liz Cheney by awarding both with the Presidential Citizens’ Medal for all that they’ve done on the Jan 6 Committee, with the White House announcement specifically citing their efforts at defending democracy and the rule of law. This forces the media once again to mention January 6 in the headlines on the anniversary of that fateful day when Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election – and remind people once again who the good guys are – regardless of what tantrum Trump may later throw over it.
