President Biden just hit it out of the park with his press conference

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Various major media outlets tried to make a scandal out of the fact that President Joe Biden hadn’t held a formal press conference, when in reality he was busy focusing on the American Rescue Plan, the vaccine rollout, and other emergencies. But Biden is holding a press conference today. While it’s still ongoing, it’s going remarkably well so far.

Biden is clearly in his element. He keeps using his answers to remind everyone that he knows the political landscape inside and out. Biden also made clear that he’ll throw his weight behind reforming or killing the filibuster if it becomes necessary, because he intends to pass large amounts of groundbreaking legislation no matter what it takes.

Biden also managed to work in a subtle dig at Trump. Biden proudly stated that no American President has ever backed down to China on civil rights abuses. Then he added “well I guess one did.”

But overall, today wasn’t about the former guy and his messes, it was about President Biden and his solutions. To give you an idea of how comfortable Biden is in these press conferences, at one point he poked fun at his own age by quipping that he came to the Senate “120 years ago.

Some are asking why Joe Biden doesn’t hold press conferences more often, considering how adept he is at conducting them. The reality is that he only has so many hours in a day, and he wants to spend most of them working on solutions, not dealing with “gotcha” questions from reporters. He has a Press Secretary for that, and she holds daily briefings.
