It’s been just over a year since a far-right SCOTUS struck down Roe v. Wade in the controversial Dobbs decision – not long after Republicans prepared an array of draconian laws limiting the access of healthcare for women throughout the country.

This was an inevitable consequence of a Republican president taking the White House in 2016 – that they had the rare opportunity to reshape the courts for a generation and despite losing the popular vote, they did so – giving us a 6-3 conservative majority on the courts.

President Biden, however, saw this move coming – and that’s why on Friday, he took decisive action – by signing a third executive order in response to the decision, that expands access to contraception options under the Affordable Care Act.

He also got a sizable boost for his 2024 re-election campaign with endorsements from Planned Parenthood, NARAL and Emily’s List – three of the most prominent abortion rights organizations in the country. One year later, President Biden made it clear that while Republicans may have succeeded in their long term goal to get Roe v. Wade overturned, they’re far from winning the war – and we’re prepared to fight them every step of the way.
