President Biden comes out swinging

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump loved using Twitter to bully and insult people while promoting his hateful MAGA agenda. Now, President Joe Biden is using Twitter to call people out, but he’s doing it in a very different way. When the facts are on your side and it’s laughably clear how hypocritical your critics are acting, then a mere statement of fact is the only tweet you need to shut things down.

On Wednesday, Biden announced a three-part plan to make good on his promise to cancel $10,000 of student debt for low- to middle-income borrowers. The core part involves canceling up to $20,000 of debt to Pell Grant recipients and up to $10,000 to non-Pell Grant recipients for borrowers who earn less than $125,000 (or $250,000 for married couples). Biden also extended a payment freeze on federal student loans and interest accrual through the end of this month.

It didn’t take Republicans long to blast Biden’s move, as if the concept of loan forgiveness is evil. Leading the charge, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene told Newsmax, “Four our government to say, ‘Okay, your debt is completely forgiven’… It’s completely unfair.” The White House responded by tweeting the clip and adding, “Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had $183,504 in PPP loans forgiven.” Indeed, Greene’s company, Taylor Commercial, Inc., had its loan forgiven under the Payment Protection Program, according to data compiled by ProPublica.

The White House proceeded similarly down the list of outspoken Republicans, pointing out that they recently benefited through PPP loan forgiveness. In all cases, not only did these Republicans receive the type of assistance they now pretend to criticize, but the amounts are far greater than the $10,000 or $20,000 forgiven under Biden’s new plan.

Quoting tweets from GOP Reps. Vern Buchanan, Markwayne Mullin, Kevin Hern, Mike Kelly, and Matt Gaetz, the White House simply mentioned how these hypocrites had over $2.3 million (Buchanan), over $1.4 million (Mullin), over $1 million (Hern), $987,237 (Kelly), and $482,321 (Gaetz) in PPP loans forgiven.

Biden’s flurry of debate-ending tweets against malarkey stands in stark contrast to the former guy’s rage-tweets against truth and facts. It portrays a refreshing confidence that’s exactly what the Democrats need as we head into the midterms.
