The real reason Michael Cohen’s now-confirmed trip to Prague is so important
Even though Michael Cohen has confessed to so many other Trump-related crimes, he’s continued to publicly insist that he never traveled to Prague during the election to meet with Russian government representatives, as alleged in the Trump-Russia dossier. Now McClatchy, a respected publication, has intel sources confirming that Cohen’s cellphone was picked up outside Prague in the alleged timeframe of the meeting. That said, Cohen just tweeted once again that the Prague thing isn’t true. So now what?
There are three possibilities here. The first is that this well-sourced reporting is somehow wrong. This is possible, but seems unlikely, given the sourcing. The second is that Michael Cohen did go to Prague, and then lied to the public and to Robert Mueller about it. But Mueller would have had this European intel from the start, and would have known Cohen was lying, and would have busted him for it. The third is that Cohen is lying publicly for whatever reason, but privately told Robert Mueller the truth.
Logically, speaking, this third scenario seems the most likely of the three, so we’ll go with it for the purposes of this article. This would mean that Michael Cohen really did meet with Russian government reps in Prague during the election, for the purpose of setting up financial compensation for those who did the hacking dirty work. If Mueller has this, it’s the ballgame.
The money trail would prove that Team Trump was indeed specifically conspiring with the Russians to hack the 2016 U.S. election. And because Michael Cohen is such a packrat, he probably hung on to evidence proving that Donald Trump was personally in on it. This would mean that Trump criminally rigged the election in his favor, and isn’t the “president” of anything.
