Get your popcorn ready: William Barr is getting hauled in to answer for his lies about the Mueller report

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Even as House Democrats line up the key cooperating witnesses whose public testimony will shape their “don’t call it impeachment just yet” effort, they must first haul in Donald Trump’s corrupt Attorney General William Barr in order to expose the lies he’s told about the Mueller report. Well, get your popcorn ready.

William Barr was already set to publicly testify on May 1st before the useless Senate Judiciary Committee, which is now run by Donald Trump’s increasingly mentally unstable lackey Lindsey Graham. Although Graham will try to steer this hearing toward deranged pro-Trump conspiracy theories, the numerous Democratic Senators on the committee will use their allotted time to hit Barr with real questions and try to back him into a corner about his felony obstruction of justice with regard to the Mueller report. But that hearing is now secondary to Barr’s newly announced testimony one day later before the House.

Barr is now set to publicly testify on Thursday, May 2nd, before the House Judiciary Committee. This is crucial for a few reasons. First, the committee is controlled by Democratic Chair Jerry Nadler, who can use his powers to limit the idiocy coming from the Republicans on the committee. Second, the House Judiciary Committee is where the impeachment process starts – so Barr’s testimony is a de facto first step in impeaching Donald Trump, whether the Democrats are calling it “impeachment” yet or not.

Here’s what to look for during William Barr’s House testimony. Based on his track record of lying about the Mueller report, Barr can be expected to tell lie after lie during his testimony. The key for House Democrats will be to try to catch Barr in one or more provable lies about his handling of the report. This will make it much easier to impeach Donald Trump. It’ll also ensure that Barr can be referred for criminal prosecution for perjury after Trump is gone. The prospect of prison could potentially scare Barr into backing down and cooperating with Congress. We’ll see how it goes.
