Political animals
The undecided voters are not a myth. They’re out there. I’ve spoken to some of them. And all over, I hear the question: why? How could ANYBODY be undecided at this moment in time — in history? I have a few thoughts on that. Let’s start with ourselves. We are political animals.
What does that mean? It means politics are our passion. We are primal about politics. It’s in our bloodstream. We are as intense about politics as the most fiery night-star. It has been, for many of us, our salvation.
Politics — and promoting positive change — is seared into us deeply. It cannot leave. It consumes us. We are not the majority. “Who’s Steve Bannon?” This question has been asked — by people who simply do not follow politics. “I didn’t know Donald Trump did that.”
There is a tendency for many to believe people think as they do. Most people have had that belief at one time or another. I have. People who watch the Super Bowl — shouting for their team — might think everyone understands their passion.
People who rescue- who give aid to the beautiful animals who enrich our lives and live among us- might think all people feel as passionately as they do. But in reality, it is simply not the case. All over the country, some people have no idea that Roe even fell. Some people do not understand the importance of voting.
It’s not that they’re dumb or not worth connecting with. They’re simply not political animals. I do not have to tell you, I am sure, what being a political animal feels like, as you likely know.
It’s the most electric feeling in the world when we win — and the saddest when we lose. There are some that will never understand us — who will give us blank looks as they see the work that we do and the passion we display.
But It is something we should all be proud of. Being political animals is the gift fate gave us, and we can use our passion to educate others.
We are those chosen few — the political animals of the night, of the present AND of the future. We educate, provide awareness and knowledge, and to help make the country even better — more unique — than it already is.
