Corey Lewandowski falls to pieces after House Democrats unleash professional counsel on him
Corey Lewandowski showed up to his televised House Judiciary Committee hearings today with a treasure trove of propaganda and lies in hand, which he spewed in response to the first several hours of questions he was asked about Donald Trump’s obstruction of justice crimes. But as the day went on, Lewandowski ran out of material and became less sure of himself.
By the time House Democrats announced that they were going to allow professional legal counsel to begin questioning Corey Lewandowski in the late afternoon, House Republicans began throwing a fit about it. They must have had a sense of how poorly it would go for Lewandowski. But even they probably didn’t see this kind of train wreck coming.
Corey Lewandowski had already been caught committing felony perjury by the time House Democrats were done asking him questions. Once the counsel took over the questioning, he zeroed in on Lewandowski’s various lies and inconsistencies. The counsel cited Lewandowski’s previous media interviews, as well as things that Lewandowski had stated in his books about Trump.
By the time it was over, Corey Lewandowski was left claiming that he didn’t remember what he’d testified to Robert Mueller, and he didn’t know what was in his own books. Lewandowski had been backed that thoroughly into a corner. The net result is that Lewandowski not only made himself look guilty of obstruction of justice, he made Donald Trump look guilty of obstruction of justice. This hearing was entirely about the ongoing legal battle over impeachment testimony and evidence, and let’s just say that Corey Lewandowski unwittingly did House Democrats a huge favor today.
