Looks like Putin is planning to hand Trump a phony “victory” in their upcoming summit
We all know why Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are holding a one-on-one meeting during their summit this month, right? With the Trump-Russia scandal closing in on him, Trump is seeking new instructions from his puppet master Putin. But now it appears the two men have something else brewing as well: Putin is going to hand Trump a phony “victory” to try to prop up his failing presidency.
The first hint came when the far-right Heritage Foundation, which owns Donald Trump financially, posted this anti-Russia tweet on Thursday:
Things to remember before @realDonaldTrump travels to Europe:
-Russia is the aggressor—Ukraine is the victim
-Crimea belongs to Ukraine
-NATO & US troops in Europe serve our national interests
-Europeans must spend more on defense
-Putin’s track record shows he can’t be trusted
The Heritage Foundation is in the process of picking Trump’s Supreme Court nominee for him, so there is no way that it takes a public stand in opposition to Trump’s agenda. It’s clear that this tweet was crafted in concert with the Trump administration – but why? Then came the other half of the equation. Last night Trump’s State Department, which is now run by his close ally Mike Pompeo, issued this statement to the media: “The Russian government continues to stifle press freedom and media independence.”
So now we see what’s really going on here. Donald Trump’s allies inside and outside the government are taking a stand against specific Russian actions. This sets the stage for Trump to go into the summit and “demand” that Vladimir Putin cave on these issues. Putin, who is orchestrating the entire thing, will then cave on a handful of things he doesn’t care about. Trump will declare himself the victor of the summit, and he’ll insist it’s proof that he’s not a Russian puppet.
