Phone records reveal Roger Stone is in deep

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s no surprise to see today’s reporting from The Guardian that Roger Stone had phone calls with the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys leaders before and after 1/6. Keep in mind, Stone’s Oath Keeper driver cut a cooperation deal early this year. So the DOJ likely already has a lot of this stuff in hand and has been working with it for awhile now.

“So why hasn’t the DOJ done anything yet with this?” What you really mean to ask is, why hasn’t the DOJ done anything in public with this. If the goal is to flip Stone against Trump, you pile on Stone behind the scenes, until he concludes he can’t beat all the charges.

And while there’s no specific reason to believe that Stone has flipped, the reality is that we wouldn’t know about it even if he has flipped. This DOJ would keep that a secret so it could use Stone to continue extracting information from Trump, until Trump’s indictment.

When the DOJ rounded up the Oath Keepers leadership all at once in January, there was no indication it was coming. No one even knew the DOJ had been building cases against them. Their arrests didn’t come out of nowhere, but to those of us on the outside, it appeared that way.

So whatever the DOJ has going on with 1/6 and Trump world, keep in mind that little or none of it is going to surface in real time, and we likely won’t find out about any of it until indictments and arrests appear to come out of nowhere one day.

Those indictments, arrests, cooperation deals, etc may or may not end up being what you’re hoping they’ll be. You might be thrilled or disappointed. But when they do happen, you’ll say “wow, we had no idea the DOJ was working on those cases the entire time.”

When we learn about the existence of a DOJ probe, cooperation deal, etc, and then there are no more headlines about it for awhile, that’s not an indicator that it’s gone away. It means it’s been playing out in a way that’s not being made public.
