Pennsylvania’s Republican State Senate carries out corrupt plot in late night session

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It was after 11:00 pm on Thursday night. Many folks in Pennsylvania were in bed. Exhausted after a long day, they fell into slumbers, unaware that their Senators were at that moment seeking to steal the rights of Pennsylvania women to make their own health decisions. It’s 11:00 pm. Do you know where YOUR politician is?

If you are from the beautiful state of Pennsylvania — your politician just might have been — huddled with the rest of the Pennsylvania Senate discussing whether to ban abortion permanently.

There was supposed to be a rule in place banning votes after the 11:00 hour. Alas, the Pennsylvania Senate — led by Republicans — waived the rule. Anything to destroy the rights of women. And so they debated the issue. A constitutional amendment. An “Omnibus amendment” on whether: “the policy of Pa is to protect the life of every unborn child from conception to birth.”

The Pennsylvania Senate were thieves in the night. As the Supreme Court has its shadow docket, the Pennsylvania Senate has its late-night meetings. The specific language on abortion was added in on an 11-6 vote. Democrats tried. But Republicans in the Pennsylvania Senate repeatedly voted to table their motions. Again and again.

The process was rigged, you see. The outcome was known even before they all sat down. State Senator Vincent Hughes had this to say: “People should know at 11:29 pm this body, in the dark of night, is moving to eliminate the rights of women.”

In the dark of night. Why is it always in the dark of night? The “shadow docket.” The secret meeting of the Pennsylvania senate. It is always in the dark of night — likely done this way so people won’t know.

Only people DO know. And judging from the reaction, I SAW? They’re enraged. Live in the great state of Pennsylvania? Home of the Declaration of Independence. Then tell your Senators to STOP THIS.

This amendment does not automatically become law. But this secret process Republicans engaged in makes it easier for this to BECOME law. Does this story enrage you? I hope so. This is their future for us — in the dark of night, of course. Don’t let them get away with it. Vote.
