Donald Trump’s Pennsylvania state legislature fantasy crashes and burns
It’s becoming more obvious by the day that Donald Trump is merely “contesting” the election so he can continue fundraising money from his idiot supporters. Trump’s people keep floating increasingly silly fantasies about how he’s going to magically overturn the election, in the hope of keeping the grift going.
Now that Joe Biden has pulled ahead by more than 50,000 votes in Pennsylvania amid a backdrop of only 10,000 mail-in ballots having arrived after Election Day, Trump’s hopes of overturning the state’s result in court is officially finished. So now Trump and his people are moving onto the next fantasy, which involves having the Pennsylvania state legislature magically give the state’s electoral votes to Trump instead of Biden.
The Washington Post is now explaining how this simply isn’t a real thing. Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro put it this way: “There is no legal mechanism for the state legislature to act alone and appoint electors. None.” In other words, this is just another hallucinatory fantasy coming from those who wish Trump had some kind of magical path to winning. It’s over, it’s been over, and now Trump is even running out of imaginary ideas.
