As the election unravels for him, Donald Trump goes full Pee Wee Herman

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Perhaps the one defining characteristic of Donald Trump is that he never does his homework when it comes to plotting his antics. For instance, if you’re going to center your midterm election strategy around racist lies about immigration, you should probably make sure that voters care about immigration, and that your strategy is properly going to get seen.

The trouble for Donald Trump is that recent national polling pegs immigration as merely the fifth most important issue for voters, behind things like health care. Worse, the last minute television ad he put together turns out to be so off-the-rails racist that major the networks (including Fox News) decided to cancel it today. This left Trump with no further cards to play, and so he simply went full Pee Wee Herman.

Trump was approached by reporters this afternoon, one of whom asked him about the racist ad having been pulled from the television networks. His response to charges that the ad was offensive: “A lot of things are offensive … Your questions are offensive.” No word on whether he followed it up by saying “I know you are, but what am I?” This guy isn’t ready for prime time. Meanwhile, the Resistance is preparing to head to the voting booth tomorrow.
