Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s dizzying week continues. On Friday he indicted the Russians who conspired to rig the election in Donald Trump’s favor. On Monday he cut a plea deal with former Trump adviser Rick Gates. Yesterday he sent chills down the spine of every Trump adviser, official and attorney by indicting a Trump-Russia attorney who misled investigators. Now Mueller is zeroing in on the Pee Pee Tape.

Just a few days ago, former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg was on cable news having a bizarre meltdown about how Donald Trump is disloyal and screws all his friends over, while insisting that he’s still on Trump’s side anyway. Now it turns out Nunberg is meeting with Mueller tomorrow, which could explain why Nunberg seemed so nervous and spun around on television. Here’s the thing: Nunberg wasn’t around for most of the campaign. Instead, he was a paid Trump adviser from 2011 to 2015.

If you haven’t already guessed what incident Mueller is interested in that happens to fall in that timeframe, Bloomberg is spelling out that it’s Trump’s 2013 trip to Russia during the Miss Universe pageant (link). This is, of course, ground zero for the Trump’s alleged night with Russian prostitutes and the infamous “Pee Pee Tape” recording from that night. It’s been alleged that Russia has been using that recording to blackmail Trump ever since.

So now we know that Robert Mueller is zeroing in on the Pee Pee Tape. We also know that he’s trying to get there by relying on Sam Nunberg, a guy who has been fired and sued by Trump over the years, and who obviously still has some hard feelings about it all. Here’s another angle to consider. Mueller has often waited to interview Trump’s people about these kinds of incidents until after he already knows the full story from his own independent investigating. That means he may have the Pee Pee Tape, or at least the story behind it, already.
