Pearl Jam cancels tour, slams Donald Trump administration’s disastrous coronavirus response

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Rock band Pearl Jam hails from Seattle, which has been the hardest by the coronavirus of any region in the United States. The band just announced that it’s canceling several upcoming tour dates, blaming both the coronavirus threat, and the Donald Trump administration’s dishonest and disastrous response to the threat.

Pearl Jam tweeted a lengthy thread explaining its reasoning for canceling the tour dates, but this passage was the most politically relevant: “It certainly hasn’t helped that there’s been no clear messages from our government regarding people’s safety and our ability to go to work. Having no examples of our national health department’s ability to get ahead of this, we have no reason to believe that it will be under control in the coming weeks ahead.” You can read the full thread here.
