Looks like Joe Biden is on a path to win Pennsylvania
Now that Joe Biden has won Wisconsin and he’s about to win Michigan, we’re just waiting to see whether Nevada, Pennsylvania, or Georgia ends up putting Biden over the top.
Here’s the thing: Biden appears to be on a path to win Pennsylvania. That may sound daunting, considering just how far behind Biden is in the partial vote count in the state. But if you watched the Wisconsin and Michigan results last night and this morning, you saw that Biden was behind by high amounts in both states, only to catch up by even huger amounts once the mail-in ballots from the big cities were finally reported.
We think the numbers suggest that the same thing will happen in Pennsylvania. Yes, Trump’s (temporary) lead is even larger there. But the number of outstanding mail-in votes in places like Philadelphia is even larger. We’re not the only ones who see it that way; NYT analyst Nate Cohn just tweeted that “everything there is still consistent with Biden eventually taking the lead.”
This is notable because while Joe Biden doesn’t need Pennsylvania in order to win, it helps give him a cushion. It’ll also make it that much harder for Donald Trump to convince anyone that he somehow magically won.
