Donald Trump goes off the paranoid deep end

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This weekend, a memo from former FBI Director James Comey revealed that Michael Flynn was under FISA surveillance while he was working for Donald Trump. Palmer Report predicted that was sure to have Trump worried about whether he might have been caught on that surveillance instructing Flynn to commit crimes in the Trump-Russia scandal. Sure enough, Trump is now going off the paranoid deep end about his electronic communications.

Donald Trump is now using his personal cellphone far more often than usual to make phone calls to his unofficial political advisers who don’t work in the White House, according to a new report from CNN. This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Trump didn’t give official White House jobs to his most scandalous campaign advisers, but it’s long been reported that he remains in regular contact with them anyway. Those are precisely the advisers with whom Trump would be discussing criminal scandals or plotting obstruction of justice.

What Trump doesn’t appear to understand is that Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the FBI can still get a FISA surveillance warrant to tap Trump’s cellphone, if they can convince a FISA judge to sign off on it. For all we know, such a warrant may already secretly be in place, and there would be no way for Trump to know about it. So he may not be doing himself any favors by relying on his personal cellphone in paranoid fashion.

Donald Trump also doesn’t appear to be considering that many of his “unofficial” advisers may be under FISA surveillance warrant, meaning that those conversations will be picked up by surveillance on the other end no matter what phone he uses. Thus far it’s confirmed that there are (or were) FISA warrants against former Trump advisers Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, and Carter Page. Logically speaking, there are probably a whole lot more where those came from.
