The Trump family’s disastrous weekend is a mix of “Panic Room” and “Home Alone”
Donald Trump and most of his family are currently hunkered down at Camp David for the weekend as they try to figure out how to respond to… you know what? We’re not even sure which of their exploding scandals they’re most worried about at this point, because it’s all hitting the fan at once. But not all of his family was there, and that’s another scandal altogether.
Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, his daughter Ivanka Trump, and his other daughter Tiffany Trump have come together to try to solve one or more family crises. Maybe it’s the new revelation that Robert Mueller is in the process of busting Kushner’s best friend, in order to push Kushner into flipping on the rest of the family. Or maybe they’re dealing with the fact that Melania Trump disappeared off the face of the earth three weeks ago, and none of them can provide a straight answer as to why or how.
And what is Tiffany Trump doing there? She’s not really a part of that family, and we mean that as a compliment. Is she there to try to help her half-sister Ivanka figure out what to do about the inevitable incarceration of her husband? Has Tiffany been tapped as some kind of go-between with Melania? And where’s Eric Trump in all this? Did he miss the flight? Did the rest of the family forget he exists? In any case, this scene at Camp David is like something out of the movie Panic Room.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump – if she is indeed at the White House – is apparently the only Trump who’s there this weekend. Well, her and Barron Trump. This is starting to sound like a White House version of “Home Alone.” Come to think of it, Donald Trump had a cameo in one of the “Home Alone” sequels. Right now he’s probably wishing he could figure out how to get lost.
