Panic in GOP land
The January 6 committee is rescheduling a hearing that was set for Thursday in prime time. This is because, reportedly, new information has come to light. So this hearing won’t happen on Thursday. More information.
This news doesn’t surprise me. There have long been rumors that the hearings might just go into August — or even September. Reportedly since the testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson, many people have come forward with new information.
This news is most definitely NOT what the GOP likely wants to hear. And speaking of the GOP: There is a lot of chatter that the GOP is in free fall — over the midterms. They’re said to be worried about many things. Let’s look at some of them.
First off, there is, as always, Donald Trump. If he announces a fake Presidential candidacy anytime soon, that could screw up the GOP’s chances in the midterms — because, of course, Trump will make the whole midterm song and dance about him.
Then there is the quality of candidates. To put it bluntly — on the GOP side — they suck. If they had looked high and low to find worse candidates, they could not have done a better job. In particular, reports are they’re worried about Herschel Walker, JD Vance, and Mehmet Oz.
And they’re also worried about the January 6 committee. This committee has been and is telling a story to a riveted nation who will only become more fascinated as the hearings go on. And this is something the GOP has zero control over.
So the frightened steam rising from the GOP sauna is getting hotter and thicker with every passing minute. They want to talk about gas prices, damn it! Only — there isn’t much to say on that front either. This is because gas prices are going down. And the GOP knows it. But they don’t have a platform. They never made one because they appeared just to assume this would all be a cakewalk for them.
Never assume anything. There’s a reason they call it ASS-ume. And now we have come to the mad scramble — where Republicans are looking for SOMETHING to run on. And so far, the search hasn’t turned up much for the sad old party.
