OUT OF CONTROL

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We’ve all seen the polls that say Donald Trump is falling further behind in the 2020 election, both nationally and in swing states. We’ve also seen the polls that say his approval rating historically awful. Now the Wall Street Journal is asking Americans a different kind of poll question: is the country out of control? The answers are revealing.

The poll results show that 80% of Americans think the country is indeed out control. More to the point, 61% of Trump supporters think the country is out of control. Three and a half years into his presidency, this is a terrible sign for him. Even if Trump’s supporters blame others for the fact that things are out of control, some of them are going to reluctantly conclude that Trump simply isn’t up to the task of bringing things under control.

This is why it’s important that we expose Donald Trump as not only a would-be authoritarian who is out of control, but also as a failed authoritarian can’t pull off his strongman pose, and instead hides in a bunker. If Trump’s fans think the country has gotten out of control on his failed watch, they may stay home. And when a Trump supporter stays home in 2020 instead of voting, that’s mathematically the same thing as convincing a non-voter in the middle to turn out for Joe Biden.
