Our biggest obstacle going forward
As a political writer, one sometimes has to make tough decisions about the subject matter of various articles and what to write about. Often, some subjects are not the things one wants to write about but the things one feels they must write about. There is all kind of political news that bombards us daily, shaping our perceptions and influencing our decisions.
Such is the case with this article. What is our number one obstacle going forward? In my humble opinion, it is the media. While mulling over whether to write this article, I received a text. This text was, of course, political. I am subscribed to virtually every news outlet in the world.
The text I received read, “Trump leads Biden in the polls.”
“Majority of voters say Donald Trump was a success.”
“Joe Biden is a failure.”
I am writing about this because what you see above is all lies — all of it. Here is what the headlines would have said if the media had chosen to be honest.
“Trump leads in one poll, most polls this month and last say Biden leads.”
“Biden is ahead with black and brown people, women, and younger voters.”
“Biden ahead in Michigan.”
Yes, dear readers, a poll came out over the weekend showing Biden pulling ahead of Trump in Michigan. You will only read about it at Palmer Report. I am not being hyperbolic or discounting the few pundits like Lawrence O’Donnell, who are honest. But as I have said before — the media wants a reality show. They are playing from a script they and they alone have created. That script is:
Trump in array, Biden in disarray. The media has hyped virtually every poll showing Trump ahead and ignored virtually every poll showing Biden ahead. You will not hear of Biden being ahead in this particular poll in Michigan.
No segments will be done to examine why Trump is losing voters in Michigan. No analysis will be aimed Donald Trump’s way as the media, with fake bewilderment on their faces, talk about how awful our President is doing and how nobody likes him.
If that sounds brutal, it’s good because that is exactly how I want it to sound. The media are our biggest obstacle—we MUST brush off this crap, the games that they play. We cannot let our votes be suppressed when they start hyping a Trump poll ,failing to mention a good poll for Biden. Trust that here, at least, we will always give you the facts. ALWAYS.
