Onward and upward
It is almost here. We are about to leave 2021 behind and enter a new year. This year has seen so much. We’ve had laughter. We’ve had many tears. We’ve also had moments of pure and unfiltered joy.
Who can forget the joy of President Biden’s inauguration? Who can forget winning Georgia? But now to quote, as you know, one of my all-time favorite musicians and poets, Jacques Brel, and his haunting song Marieke, “The stars look down, so soon, so soon. The day is gone.”
It is a time of new beginnings. It is a time when we have so much work to do to keep America on its magnificent trajectory.
We wish all of you a happy and safe New Year’s. Thank you all for being so well-informed, so passionate about politics, and such voracious Palmer Report readers. We are trying to change the world together, one step at a time. And I think we are having success.
The 2022 elections will not be easy. We have in front of us a challenging task — keep the House and Senate. I believe we can do it, though. I believe this because we’re stronger than them. When we choose to love, we love fiercely, and we love our country with a deep and unyielding passion.
So, as we all prepare to welcome in 2022 and as the New York Ball prepares for its inevitable drop, let’s enjoy the night and when the festivities are over, be prepared to keep up our fight for good. Happy New Year, Palmer Report readers. And thank you.
