One of the reasons you charge people together in a racketeering case is so that they’ll feel pressure to start flipping on each other. In the Fulton County racketeering case against Donald Trump and eighteen other co-defendants, it was only a matter of time before some of them began flipping on others. That process is now happening.

One of the lowest level co-defendants, Scott Hall, has pleaded guilty and agreed to “testify truthfully in this case and all further proceedings,” per NBC. In other words, Hall has flipped and will testify against his co-defendants.

Fulton County DA Fani Willis has agreed to give Hall five years probation, and no prison time, as part of the deal (if he fails to live up to his end of the deal he’ll end up in prison). This suggests that Willis sees Hall as a valuable witness. The indictment links Hall’s actions with those of Sidney Powell in particular. So this deal increases the already-high odds that Powell will be convicted, and in turn puts serious pressure on her to flip as well.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that while Scott Hall and Donald Trump didn’t work directly together in this criminal plot, they were charged as racketeering co-defendants. Hall’s guilty plea means that someone has in fact pleaded guilty in the racketeering case against Donald Trump.

Hall is the first of the nineteen Fulton County co-defendants to flip since indictments came down. But he’s not the first person to flip in this probe. Months before indictments happened, eight fake electors cut immunity deals in exchange for their testimony to the grand jury. So Hall is at least the ninth person who’s flipped in this probe. He won’t be the last.
