Trump and Putin give away that we have them on the run
Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin collectively overplayed their hand earlier this month when Trump stood next to Putin while siding with him against the United States government. Trump has received widespread scorn and condemnation for it, dramatically weakening his standing, and thus making him less useful of a tool to Putin. Trump, being an oblivious idiot, decided to try to double down on his mistake. But now Putin has told him to cut his losses, and Trump is complying accordingly.
After the negative reaction to his treason, Donald Trump decided to publicly invite Vladimir Putin to come to the White House in the fall. This of course exposed him as being even more of a Russian puppet. Putin publicly hinted earlier this week that he might not take Trump up on the invite, which we interpreted as Putin instructing Trump to ditch the whole thing. Sure enough, Trump’s White House made the official announcement today that the Putin visit has been “delayed” until 2019.
This is just the latest reminder that, if perhaps only because Donald Trump’s allies and overlords have the sense to tell him to cut his losses when something is going wrong for him, we do have the power to force Trump to back down. The Resistance made a huge deal out of the inappropriateness of Putin’s planned visit to the White House, and this ultimately led to the visit being called off, at least for this year.
It’s also a reminder of just how vulnerable Donald Trump has become. He may or may not understand that, as he drifts in and out of his delusional haze. But whether it be the Republicans in Congress publicly demanding that Trump walk back his anti-American remarks, or Putin himself telling him to cancel their next planned summit, Trump’s allies understand that he’s never been as weak and vulnerable as he is right now.
