Oath Keepers reportedly had a January 6th “death list”
Sometimes reality can be ever so much more terrifying than any horror film. After all — one can always turn off a movie. One can simply walk away — from fiction. The same with nightmares. They dissipate when we awaken.
Not so much with the horror in real life. Horror in real life is much more frightening than fiction because sometimes it is ongoing. We cannot just turn it off — banish it back to its resting place. And that brings me to the “death list.”
A new court filing on Friday contained some real-life horror. There was a document. And according to the filing, the document was found in the home of Thomas Caldwell — a member of the Oath Keepers. This “death document” was a handwritten list. Included in the document were a Georgia election official and a family member.
Caldwell has denied that he ever intended harm toward this or any other election worker. The Government also alleges there were training camps that taught “military tactics.” Allegedly another of the Oath Keepers brought explosives with him to the area — grenades.
Not only is this truly terrifying, but it is a stark reminder that as awful, as terrible, as tragic as January 6 was — it still could have been even worse. The Justice Department plans reportedly to use this evidence against Oath Keepers at trial. Good!
Nine members of this group are charged with seditious conspiracy. Reality can indeed be one hundred times more terrifying than fiction. And tragically, this IS reality. It’s the story of a bunch of losers and exactly what these losers were prepared to do to install their crazed messiah into power. The plan would never have worked, of course. But a lot more people would have died. Lock them up.
