New York State Supreme Court delivers bad news for Donald Trump and his kids

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Even as Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the soon to be Democratic controlled House gear up to try to finish Donald Trump off, the state government of New York has been lurking in the background. What role will the state end up playing in helping to dismantle Trump and his crime family? Some of that is already in play – and the New York State Supreme Court just handed down bad news for Trump and his kids.

New York state has been moving against Donald Trump on two publicly visible fronts. One is a criminal case against the Trump Organization for financial crimes, which has reportedly been boosted by the cooperation of Michael Cohen, among others. This case has been largely operating in secret, and is thought to be a fallback in case Mueller isn’t able to finish Trump off on the federal level.

New York’s other front is a civil lawsuit against the Trump Foundation, aimed at exposing financial malfeasance on the part of its directors: Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr, and Eric Trump. Donald Trump and his attorneys have already taken this matter to the New York State Supreme Court, in the hope of getting it preemptively dismissed. But the New York Attorney General, Barbara Underwood, just announced that the Supreme Court has sided with her, and that the lawsuit will continue.

This is important because, while the only direct result of such a lawsuit is a potential financial penalty, the civil trial can serve to expose criminal fraud on the part of Donald Trump and his family, thus making it easier to bring criminal charges against them. Underwood’s term as New York Attorney General is about to end, but her successor Tish James has publicly promised to keep the legal action against Trump ongoing.
