Speaker Nancy Pelosi goes after Donald Trump’s nuclear codes

Even as the House meets today to make a plan to move forward with the impeachment of Donald Trump, the reality is that the entire House impeachment process will take days even if it’s fast tracked – and that’s before getting to the question of whether the Republican Senate will cooperate. The reality is that we may be stuck with Trump for the final twelve days.

To that end, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is pushing forward with other avenues for securing the nation. She announced that she’s spoken with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff about “available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike.” In other words, she’s working to limit Trump’s ability to do anything with the nuclear launch codes.

Of course by merely reminding everyone that Donald Trump still has nuclear launch codes, Speaker Pelosi is motivating the public to put additional pressure on Mike Pence to simply invoke the 25th Amendment, which would remove Trump from office far more quickly than impeachment can.
