Now we’re finally getting somewhere

Donald Trump entered office last month with a historically low approval rating for an incoming President, meaning he was extremely vulnerable out of the gate. But the media collectively decided to spend Trump’s first month in office pretending that Trump’s approval rating was historically high, in order to chase ratings with the scary narrative that Trump was unstoppable. It made our job that much harder. How do you rally people to fight against Trump when they’re being told that Trump is going to get his way no matter what?
But over the past few days something appears to have fundamentally changed about the prevailing narrative. Trump’s approval rating dropped by a bit this week, and suddenly the media is admitting that Trump’s approval rating is low. It’s been low all along, but now the media has decided to embrace the ‘Trump in trouble’ narrative. There are probably several reasons why.
For one thing, the stock market is tanking. Large chunks of the public mistakenly think the stock market is the economy, even if they’re not invested in it. The DJIA dropped more than seven hundred points on Friday, as big money investors are beginning to figure out that Trump is an idiot. This comes even as grocery prices are spiking worse than ever. It also comes as Trump has lost dozens of court rulings, which sharply decreases the odds that he’ll be able to pull off his current power play.
With all these things now coming crashing down on Trump’s head in rather visible fashion, the media appears to be betting that the public is about to turn against Trump. The media is trying to get out ahead of this trend by shifting its focus to how weak and inept Trump is. This new narrative is going to convince a lot of people on the fence to go ahead and stand against Trump. And it’s going to convince a number of anti-Trump people, who had given up because they didn’t think were was any point in fighting, to go ahead and get back in the game.
Now we’re finally getting somewhere. This is the trend that I’ve spent the past month hoping to see. Now it’s happening, and it’s not too late for us to gain the upper hand against Trump. We finally have the wind at our back, for the first time in awhile. So let’s get to work.
