Now we know the answer to that one

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We keep hearing House Republicans’ antics referred to as a “strategy” and that irks me, because there is no strategy. The word “strategy” implies trying to win or accomplish something. You can have a good strategy or a bad one, you can succeed or fail, but there has to be a goal in mind and an attempt at reaching it.

What we’re seeing from House Republicans is instead random, stupid, pointless chaos. To be clear, chaos is not the strategy here. There is no strategy. We’re just seeing a bunch of dumb people each doing stupid things in disorganized fashion. Any other spin is merely an attempt at assigning a coherent explanation to what is clearly incoherent behavior.

To that end, when House Republicans keep doing things like almost letting the government shut down before caving at the last minute, and almost letting immigration legislation pass before killing it at the last minute, it’s not a strategy. It’s just a series of inept screw-ups from morons bumping into each other. It’s absolutely not a strategy to win over voters, because incompetence is not what voters want.

After the Democrats won this Tuesday’s special election in dominant fashion, it became clear that even a lot of right-leaning voters are just fed up with ongoing Republican incompetence:

.
I’ve spent years saying that we need to stop portraying Trump and his Republican allies as being “dangerously powerful,” because that’s how they want to be seen. We need to instead seize every opportunity to portray them as incompetent, inept, dumb, clueless, and embarrassing. It’s the most surefire way to turn persuadable voters against them. Voters are now even saying this in exact words. Let’s listen to them, and make our messaging all about what inept idiots Trump and his Republican Party are.
