Now is not the time to fall apart
Right now, in this country, hate is everywhere. We see it on the news. We may encounter it ourselves — on social media or even face to face. Hate is an ugly emotion. And yet, we have all felt it from time to time. Many of us hate Donald Trump. I do and will admit it outright. But we cannot allow hate to divide us.
The specialty of the Democrats is love. We love as deeply as the GOP hates. We must highlight the difference between our two parties in the upcoming 2022 elections. Before I go on, I want to speak about love.. Allow me to show you some of my favorite words about love:
“If we only have love, With our arms open wide.
Then the young and the old will stand at our side.”
“Love that’s falling like rain.”
“We can reach those in pain.”
“We can heal all our wounds.
We can use our own names.
We can melt all the guns.”
“And then give the new world to our daughters and sons.”
These are the words of Poet and Singer Jacques Brel and come from the album “Jacques Brel is alive and well and living in Paris.” The song is called, “If we only have love.” These words are a perfect summation of what love is and what it should be.
And we are all united. All of us Democrats — though we may not know each other personally — all share a vital connection. We are all passionate activists who love. We love our country, and we all share a bond in our desire to make the world a better place.
Yet, all over social media, I see Republicans baiting Democrats. Many pretend to be with us so they can attack and divide. They do this, sometimes, very well.
I want to stress that I do NOT speak of Palmer Report readers. But this IS happening all over Twitter and other social media sites. Be on the lookout for this type of behavior. And warn other Democrats when you see it.
Let’s please remember the real danger doesn’t come from within but from another side — insurrectionists and liars. And they WANT us to turn on each other. But we never will. We are proud Democrats sharing a unity and purpose to make the world more loving place.
