Nothing is going Donald Trump’s way

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Another day, another kick in the pants for Donald Trump. Republicans have grudgingly agreed to certify the race in Michigan, accepting President-elect Joe Biden as the winner. The Guardian reported that people loudly protested the actions of Republicans Monica Palmer and William Hartmann in holding up the vote certification. Reverend Wendell Anthony, pastor and head of the Detroit NAACP, called it as he saw it (and as it was): “You have extracted a Black city out of a county and said the only ones that are at fault is the city of Detroit, where 80% of the people who reside here are African Americans. Shame on you!”

What will it take for white Republicans to realize that Black people no longer cower to them or take their abuse? Just like Trump, Michigan Republicans are nothing more than bullies. They act tough until you call them on their behavior.

Their “about face” was timely, given that the Michigan Court of Appeals was not having any of the Trump campaign’s allegations regarding voting in Michigan. According to Bipartisan Report, the Court ruled against the Trump campaign, specifically saying that they failed “to persuade the Court of the existence of manifest error requiring reversal.” In other words, they have nothing. A court of law depends on evidence, not someone’s hurt feelings. No one is surprised by that turn of events. Pennsylvania was not much more accommodating to Trump’s attorneys.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that the Philadelphia elections officials did not impede poll watchers from observing the counting of mail-in ballots. The attorneys the Trump campaign hired likely did not argue too hard. The Guardian reported that one of the campaign’s newly appointed attorneys had already spoken out on his conservative talk show that the campaign did not have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning this case. Marc Scaringi, who was hired after Porter Wright Morris & Arthur withdrew, said on his show “there really are no bombshells that could overturn the results” prior to being hired by the campaign. It just goes to show that some lawyers really are sharks who will take any case to make a fast buck, even one they knew going in they would lose.

Nothing is going Trump’s way, so he has resorted to vindictiveness. Christopher Krebs, head of Trump’s cybersecurity intelligence, predicted his own firing after he declared the 2020 election the most secure we have had, and Trump made that prediction true. Further, Trump, along with Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue have been attacking Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger over the results in Georgia. While the recount in Georgia found two Republican-leaning counties whose votes were not accurately counted, Joe Biden still leads by “just under 13,000” according to Fox’s Atlanta affiliate. There is nothing left for Trump to do but concede this election and transition in Biden so that he can begin work on the virus Trump has ignored. Over 250,000 Americans have died, and Trump couldn’t care less.
