As the Republican National Convention plays out, something has happened that’s a bit of a shock. Hardly anyone is WATCHING. How on earth could that be? This is the GOP’s BIG week. It’s a time of celebration and confetti for them as they solemnly promise to make America terrible.

But where’s the audience? Well, wherever they are, one thing we know: They’re not in front of their TVs watching YOU, Republicans. The first night drew 18.1 million viewers. That may not sound bad until you realize that the 18.1 million is across ALL networks.

It’s also much lower than Viewership has been in the past. ABC stunningly only averaged 2.3 million viewers. That’s nothing! In fact, it’s pretty sad. CNN got a little over one million viewers that first night. So few eyes on the GOP! Such a tiny violin in the back-round, softly playing it’s lonely lament.

Why is this happening? Why do people not tune in for the GOP’s big week? I have a possible answer. Perhaps the American people are tired, fed up, burnt out, and exhausted — from listening to Donald Trump and his insane posse of clowns. Possibly, only perhaps, mind you, they don’t care.

It is kind of a middle finger to Republicans, yes? After all, so many were supposed to tune in! So many were supposed to roar their approval for everything the GOP said at this convention.

Only it’s not playing out like that. MSNBC Host Lawrence O’Donnell called the convention “a very low-rated convention.” Ouch. It appears the American people simply do not care.
Now, why would that be?

Perhaps some of these non-viewers have heard about the GOP’s plan to throw MILLIONS off of their healthcare. Maybe, too, they’ve heard about many Republicans wanting a national abortion ban. Maybe some have even heard about Project 2025. Ah, the GOP. This is the week they get to showcase their values, beliefs, and issues.

Only their “values” took a walk out of town long ago and their beliefs, particularly about women are so strange that there are few takers around. Only a few are watching. Few seem interested. Perhaps the slogan of this little watched convention should be: “I really don’t care, do you?” Donate
