No wonder Donald Trump lost his shit today
When Donald Trump spent all day Tuesday having the meltdown of a lifetime, it strongly suggested that Trump’s lawyers had given him a heads up that the day’s DOJ filing was likely to be devastating for him. Sure enough, while the DOJ made him (and us) wait all day before releasing the filing, it certainly didn’t disappoint.
The DOJ filing includes photos of some of the classified documents Trump stole, clearly labeled as highly sensitive classified documents on their cover sheets, meaning Trump can’t just pretend he didn’t know they were classified. It reveals that it seized some of the classified documents from his desk, eliminating any obliviousness defense he might attempt at trial.
And in response to Trump’s assertion that the DOJ improperly seized some of his unrelated personal items that were in amongst the classified documents, the DOJ fired back that it’s keeping some of those personal items due to their evidentiary value. In other words, the DOJ apparently found evidence of other unrelated Trump crimes in amongst those boxes. No wonder Trump melted down so badly. This is his total destruction.
