From the start of this, Palmer Report has pointed out that Donald Trump’s “base” was largely irrelevant. They weren’t a large enough group to get him elected to begin with, and they’re not large enough to get him reelected either. Half of Trump’s approval rating has always come from people who never loved him and only supported him passively.

Part of the reason we’re seeing Donald Trump’s numbers dropping off so badly of late is that a lot of his non-base supporters have simply had enough. They were never fully committed to voting for him again, and now he’s given them a good reason not to. That includes a number of conservatives and Republicans. This new TV ad from Republican Voters Against Trump sums up part of why Trump is cratering:

Democrats, liberals, and moderates have to turn out in record numbers for Joe Biden in order to make sure the final result isn’t close enough for Donald Trump or his allies to screw with. Overwhelming vote turnout is the antidote to all of this.
