Nikki Haley swings and misses

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The media is getting it wrong again. There is something that’s happened. And it has gone completely over the heads of most pundits. Let me do a quick summary and see if you can find what is missing from this picture.

Nikki Haley called for mental health and competency tests for any politician over 75. Don Lemon of CNN fame did not much like that and made a remark about how Haley is past her prime. Many did not appreciate Lemon’s comment about women.

The buzz got worse and worse until Don Lemon was forced to apologize. Just the latest CNN snafu. And yet this article is not about CNN. It is about what’s missing in the Nikki Haley picture. I’m glad Lemon apologized. But where is the outrage about what Haley said? THAT is what is missing from this picture.

Let me first make my position clear. I am not for mental health examples for politicians over 75. I’m for mental health exams for ALL politicians. Haley is not it would seem. She conveniently cites those 75 and over. This is an attack on president Biden.
This is ageism.

And yet predictably, the media says nothing. And believe me, I’ve listened for someone — anyone in the media to point this out. Haley, who seems almost frantic not to attack Donald trump, has insisted she’s not “kicking sideways,” whatever the hell that means.

Haley isn’t doing anything except kicking our seniors, metaphorically speaking. So is this how she plans to run for president? Bu attacking our older generation? This gives me more outrage than anything Lemon said. But do you see the difference in how these comments are treated?

I consider myself a feminist. I do not like what Lemon said, but I also know people can get twisted in their words. What comes out is not always what it was meant to. And he has apologized.

Only Haley means it. And for her information, I do not enjoy seeing her poke fun at the elderly — at a man who has more intelligence in one finger than Haley has in her whole being. I am deeply angered by what Haley is doing. I do not think she stands a chance of winning, so there is that. But her strategy of attacking IS ageism, and we need to call it out for what it is.
