Nikki Haley just jumped the shark again

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

In hindsight, former Republican rising star Nikki Haley jumped the shark when she first joined the Trump administration. In fact, the day she resigned from the Trump administration, Palmer Report predicted that she’d be forever tainted by her association with Trump, and that her career was over. She’s since come out for Trump, then against Trump, then for Trump… and we’ve lost track of how many times she’s jumped that particular shark.

Now Haley has found a whole new way to get it wrong. Despite being framed as a Trump worship session, CPAC went so poorly for Donald Trump that just 55% of attendees ended up saying that he was their first choice for 2024. With numbers that bad among his own base, he’s toast.

Yet Nikki Haley tweeted this: “Strong speech by President Trump about the winning policies of his administration and what the party needs to unite behind moving forward. The liberal media wants a GOP civil war. Not gonna happen.”

Uh, really? Looks like she didn’t see the CPAC straw poll numbers. Or maybe she did. Nikki Haley’s problem is that because she stooped to working for the Trump regime, she’s forever tied to Trump. Even if she tried to renounce him completely, she wouldn’t be able to succeed in running for President, because her ties to Trump would sink her. She has to hope Trump’s reputation somehow improves, so her reputation can improve as well. In the meantime, whenever she tries to distance herself from Trump, she ends up having to cartoonishly revert to a pro-Trump stance.
