Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts has apparently grown a pair, at least as it relates to other judges. Donald Trump has been calling for the impeachment of U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, who was appointed by President Obama. Trump is known for his harsh words, and he was no different in this instance, calling the judge a “troublemaker” and an “agitator.” He further said that the judge “wasn’t elected in an overwhelming mandate.” Neither was Trump.

The “crime” of which Judge Boasberg is accused is blocking (for 14 days) Trump’s attempts to deport Venezuelan illegal immigrants under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. After the hearing, Trump took to Truth Social to rage: “This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!!” This time, Trump opened his mouth about the wrong thing, and Justice Roberts decided to school him. In his statement, Roberts wrote: “For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision. The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose.”

Trump must have really pissed Justice Roberts off. After all, he’s one of the justices who signed off on far-reaching immunity for Trump. That must have meant to Trump that he can still do whatever he likes, as evidenced by his slew of executive orders. Elon Musk had the nerve to weigh in, saying: “As Justice Roberts well knows, impeachment is a constitutional right of the legislature.” Perhaps the law works that way in South Africa, but here, things are a bit different. Musk should learn the law of the government he’s helping to dismantle before diving into any frays. Besides, impeachment is for egregious activities (like Trump has done in the past). In this instance, this judge merely wants to consult the law (as he should) before blindly signing off on something that may well be illegal.

Now, Trump’s lackies in Congress are calling for impeachment of judges. They have no minds of their own and simply parrot everything Trump says. So much for “leadership.” They not only want Judge Boasberg impeached, but they want every judge impeached who has blocked Trump’s executive orders. Has it ever occurred to them that those orders are unlawful? There is a reason we have different branches in the government. It’s called checks and balances. No one person runs everything in this country, and it’s a good thing we have this system with Trump back in office. Trump and his cronies may think they run everything, but they’d better think again. All the MAGA contingent is doing is driving Mike Johnson crazy, not that I have any sympathy for him. They all deserve each other. We, however, deserve none of them.

While they’re doing all this complaining, the people need representatives who want to do things that benefit the people. We don’t need a bunch of men who act like school-age boys. Do your job-which doesn’t include licking Trump’s ass-or get out.
