Nice try Fox News

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

His name was Robert LaMay. He was a Washington State trooper who (depending on who you listen to) either quit his job in protest over the Covid-19 vaccine mandates or was fired for not getting vaccinated. He had been in his role for 22 years. He didn’t want the vaccine. Fox non-news quickly jumped on the story — as did others in conservative media. LaMay became a celebrity of sorts within right-wing circles. Now he’s dead.

Mr. LaMay has died from Covid-19. For the year 2021 it’s reported that Covid-19 was the largest cause of death among police officers. But you might not know it from Fox. You see, friends and readers, Fox has not said one damn word about LaMay — or at least they haven’t at the time of this writing. Perhaps they will. Better late than never, I suppose.

Or maybe they won’t. Perhaps Fox just hopes this story goes away. Or hopes it is labeled “fake news.” Only it ISN’T fake news. Fox elevated this man, victimized him, made him a hero on the right — and he paid with his life. Please don’t think I am taking responsibility away. Of course, this man should have gotten the vaccine.

Perhaps it wouldn’t have mattered. But maybe it would have. But Fox took up his cause. They enthusiastically elevated him to dizzying heights — until they no longer needed him. Where was their statement? WHY didn’t they say something — anything — as soon as this news was made public?

The profit-making machine simply doesn’t care — about anything — except the sounds of money. I’d liken Fox to a slot machine at a casino. Money in, money — back in. Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me forever. This is their mantra. They care about the green — whirring and spinning, beeping and pouring ever-more of the cherished dollar into their craven coffer. Until their audience dissipates, tragically the spinning will go on.
